Jagran Film Festival  World’s Largest travelling film festival is back

New Delhi, April, 2017: The world’s largest travelling film festival, the 8th edition of Jagran Film Festival is back with a bang. The Festival invites entries from film makers across the globe for its various Competitive sections with 31 May 2017 as the Closing date. .

The Festival this year onwards introduces Cash Awards in various film categories:

  1. International Competition for Feature Films: Rs. 1,30,000/- ($ 2,000) for the Best feature Film)
  2. Jagran Shorts( International Competition for International Short Films: Rs.65,000/- ( $1,000)
  3. Best Indian Feature Film : Rs. 2,00,000/-
  4. Best Indian Film Director: Rs.1,50,000/-
  5. Best Indian Debut Director: Rs. 1,00,000/-

The awards at the Festival are presented in various other categories too like the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Singer (Male and Female), Best Set Design, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male and Female), Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Editing, Best screenplay, Best Costume Design and Best Make up. Some of the past famous recipients of the awards at the Festival have been Shyam Benegal, Shashi Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Yash Chopra, Prem Chopra, Asha Parekh, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, Swara Bhaskar and many others.

The films produced between August 1, 2016 and May 31, 2017 are eligible for all competitive sections and awards at the Festival. More details on the regulations and awards are available on the Festival’s website: www.jff.co.in

Carrying its noble objective of ‘taking cinema to the masses in smaller cities of India, the Festival will travel to 16 cities this year too. Beginning with New Delhi on July 1, 2017, the Festival will travel to cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Bhopal, Ranchi, Indore, Ludhiana, Dehradoon and many others before culminating in Mumbai with a gala film award ceremony in September 2017, the Festival will have its week long run in Mumbai.

The other sections of the Festival are Country Focus, Homage, Retrospectives and Special sections. The Festival will also have its famous ‘Knowledge Series’ with Maestros of Indian Cinema travelling to these cities screening their films and interacting with the audiences.
