Journalism And Issues Of Securities Discussed At 10th Global Festival Of Journalism

Noida: “Promoting the safety of journalists and combatting impunity for those who attack them are central elements within UNESCO’s support for press freedom on all media platforms. On average, every five days a journalist is killed for bringing information to the public. Attacks on media professionals are often perpetrated in non-conflict situations by organised crime groups,” initiated Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of International Journalism Centre in the webinar titled Journalism and Issues of Security at 10th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2022.

The program started with an exhibition of still photographs   by H.E. Muhamed Cengic Ambassador of   Bosnia and Herzegovina to India who very well explained the pictures clicked by him related to nature. He also gave his point of view on the security for the truthful journalists and the tough face they go through during their service towards journalism.

“Reporting should be more positive and constructive. Manipulating and wrong news can bring confusion and restlessness in the society. Positive news is needed in India today. We are growing country and news should be motivating rather than depressing,” added Jagannath Sarkar Member Parliament.

“Impunity for crimes against the media fuels and perpetuates the cycle of violence and the resulting self-censorship deprives society of information and further affects press freedom. It directly impacts the United Nations’ human rights based efforts to promote peace, security, and sustainable development,” said Renzu Shah Author and Journalist from Kashmir.

“Need not to forget that journalism is a daring profession, you have to learn to face and deal with situations,” said Prof. K.G. Suresh Vice Chancellor MCNUJ. He suggested the need of social security Scheme in India for the journalists to raise the level of confidence.

Suresh Chavhanke spoke about the international threats and international security which is related to journalism giving his own example. Anil Pandey senior journalist emphasized on the security subject because of the change in political, economic and social scenario. He also suggested the requirements of prerequisites to be called journalist.  Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi forum released the poster of this great journalist and Sushil Bharti of Radio Noida spoke about his works and sacrifices. A Cover of book ‘Celestial Bonds’ by  Avinash Pushkarna was also released.

Vipin Gaur Secretary General News Paper of India, Arvind Kumar Singh Senior Journalist, , Ashok Tyagi Secretary General International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, Somnath Sahoo Professor from AAFT University also spoke on the occasion. Akanksha conducted the program.

The program was supported by voluntary organizations like Asian Unity Alliance, Koshish-Sahyog, Radio Raipur, Radio Mumbai, International Public Broadcasting Forum, World Peace Development and Research Foundation and International Film and Television Research Centre.
